Goddess

This sculpture is located on a plaza in the Fifth Avenue art gallery area of Scottsdale.  It's titled "GAIA" by sculptor Tom Bollinger.  Gaia is the goddess or personification of the Earth in ancient Greek religion and the legend goes that she was the mother of the ancient heavenly Greek gods.  The description plate says that it is constructed of bronze, light, and lucite.

It's beautiful almost too big for the place, no?

It sits beautifully in the warm sunshine.

I don't recall seeing this, even though it is only about a mile or so from our house. We'll have to stroll around downtown Scottsdale more.

I love it Sharon, heavenly piece! It's very much like one of the exhibits at Sculpture by the Sea this year.
