Urban Farming

On the south side of Phoenix you can find farm lands growing many different crops.  That's where I found this tractor working in the shadow of the downtown skyline.  I think it makes an interesting juxtaposition; rural vs. urban.

What a great contrast!

This is one of the best contrasts I've seen Sharon, love the lush green and vibrant red with the hazy skyline in the background.

Just hoping that this field will stay for ever where it sits...

When I first moved to Phoenix there was a huge cornfield at 35th Avenue and I think it was Bethanyy Home Road that just stretched for miles!

Terrific shot. Wonder where they get the water needed. Looks a little smoggy in the Valley of the Sun! :-)

This is a great photo. The contrast of the green field and the downtown skyline makes on overlook for a moment the sea of red roofs from subdivisions crowding the farmland.

I have found that showing the contrast increases the power of the photo. Great work friend! Peace, Mary helen Fernandez Stewart

From urban to suburban to rural. Great shot. Lowell asked where the water comes from. In Phoenix, the Salt River Project gets us water from the mountains to the northeast of us and we, also get water from the Colorado River. I think most farmers water goes thru the Grand Canyon and to their fields.

I am surprised they are still there.

I have been surprised by how many times I have seen this phenomenon around Hartford and other cities. It illustrates how randomly cities develop, I guess. Nice photo.
