Restaurant Week

Restaurant week happened two weeks ago and I was lucky enough to try out the special fare at three different places.  Restaurant week is an event where restaurants are able to show off a little by preparing a special fixed price meal for between $30 and $40 per person depending on the restaurant.  The last one I went to was Zinc Bistro in Scottsdale and it was the only one where I remembered to take a couple of pictures with my iPhone.  Above is my salad of kale, broken parmesan, avocado, and grilled blood orange.

Below is my entree, grilled hanger steak Basquaise with sherried peewee potato and sweet onions and peppers.  Dessert was a chocolate soufflé but I was too busy eating it to remember to catch a picture of it.

So, do they do a Restaurant Week where you live?  It's very popular here and you have to get reservations well in advance at most places.

A restaurant week where I live? You must be kidding! There's only one way to fix catfish!

We missed restaurant week this year. We like Zinc Bistro, although I would certainly order a spinach salad rather than kale.

It looks delicious. And Kathy, I beg to differ. There are a couple of restaurants (Pappadeaux in Phoenix, Iron Springs Cafe in Prescott) that do a wonderful blackened catfish with a spicy sauce. And SWMBO fixed catfish filets at home this week al mojo de ajo (in garlic butter). Both ways are delicious.

We have a restaurant event in the summer - Summerlicious and another in the winter - Winterlicious. They are a similar concept to yours and a good time for trying new places.

I don't think we have that here but there is an event where the restaurants set up at the courthouse with food samples to try.

I love the Zinc Bistro! Yes, we do have a restaurant week here but it's way to pricey for me.

Different cities and towns have different restaurant weeks, but most have two or three per year. They are scattered throughout the year, but most are in the summer.
