Temple

On Saturday I decided to take a drive to Queen Creek to visit the Queen Creek Olive Company, a trip that would take me over 80 miles without ever leaving the Phoenix metro area.  On the drive, I spotted this huge steeple in the distance and had no idea what it was so I took a little side trip to locate the source.  It turns out to be a brand new Mormon Temple in the city of Gilbert Arizona that is still under construction.  Since I rarely get into this area, I thought I'd better get a photo.  You never know, it might be 4 or 5 years before I get to this particular corner again.

Oh, no, you must go back sooner than four or five years to show us the finished project.

THIS is a perfect example on why I love a simple chapel.

The architecture is amazing, it reminds me of the headquarters of the main Portuguese bank!

This one is going to be an interesting looking place. The Mormons sure build them fancy, don't they? Give me a quiet flower studded meadow and I will be happy. They just finished building a new temple here too.

What a waste of money and resources. So much for being Green.

Good grief! What a structure rising out of the ground! For some reason it looks more threatening than welcoming.

I think the Phoenix metro area has grown a bit since I lived there!

I'm with Birdman & Judy on this one. What a waste of resources in these times.

Reminds me of the story of the man marrying a mormon girl. His family wasn't allowed to go to the ceremony at the temple. Lucky, for them their was a Dairy Queen right out front, so they could wait. They allow all God's children.

Is that Joseph Smith or the angel Moroni a way up on top?

There are people in the world who don't have food and water. I wonder how much good they could do if they build something less impressive. Not picking on Mormons - other relgious groups do the same.

Good heavens what an amazing sight Sharon! You really will have to go back and show us how they landscape around this unusual temple.
