Storm Chasing

I mentioned in Sunday's post that we had some clouds on Saturday but, in the afternoon a few storms rolled in as well.  When I started to hear the distant rumble of thunder, I jumped in the car and headed for Steel Indian School Park to see if I could get some dark sky and churning cloud photos.

I wasn't the only photographer with that idea in mind.

Birdman's right...hope there wasn't any lightening ...

You succeeded in your quest for a good photo.

Julie got some dramatic cloud photos on Sunday evening from our back yard. I am sure she will post them in the future.

Birdman's comment made me laugh! I love the way when the sky is so dark and threatening it seems to make the buildings even whiter and pop out more. Don't you just love catching another photographer at work!

That sky made a very dramatic back drop for the tall buildings. Nice! Be careful out there.

I'm so glad you got out and took these. I just can't seem to get out of the house these days.

Love the shot of the guy. 17 people got hit by lightning near here on Sunday in a tent at a Ribfest when a sudden storm came up. They all survived luckily.

If you hear thunder, lightning can hit you, right? Are you parched in Phoenix. This sky looks so familiar...we get thunder boomers just about every afternoon when cooler air from the Gulf of Mexico meets the hot air over land. Creates all kind of racket and rain and sometimes is just plain scary.

I really like the colors in this shot!

Re the cactus: Tons of this stuff grows in the forests around Ocala. I think that's very strange!

Oh...did I miss some more monsoon rain? I think this monsoon season is already better than last year. All I remember getting last year was dust!

Your top shot is great. It must be rare to have storm photos in sunny Phoenix.

We had some of those very heavy dark clouds up here, too.

Next thing you'll be chasing Haboobs.

That's a very threatening looking sky, hope you stayed dry?!
