Paragliding

Sunday evening I was on my way back into the city with a good friend after we had been out in the desert shooting photos.  (More about that at a later time.)  Suddenly we saw some gliders heading our way.  We pulled over and jumped out to grab a few shots.  This guy has got his own web site and he advertises it on the underside of his canopy.  You can check it out here.  He was doing all kinds of twists, turns, and flips right in front of us.  I found out later that there was a paragliding show on Sunday afternoon in the far north end of Phoenix.

Cool shot. I have a friend who enjoys paragliding, he has a helmet cam and I have seen him flying over my house a few times!

I never knew there was such a thing as paragliding shows. I guess the solitude of flying in the sky finds a counterbalance in the human need for companionship with liked-minded people.

Never tried it but I would have liked to have done it, but that would have been years ago.

What fun that you just happened to "glide" into this photo op!

Cool shot Sharon, it must be fun to paragliding... and to watch them.

On the one hand I would love to try this, but on the other hand I'm sure I never will! :-)))

What an interesting find. It's always fun to spot something in the air. :)

It always looks like so much fun, wish I wasn't such a scaredy cat! Well caught Sharon.

It must have been fun to watch them. You must feel so free up there in the wind. Just as long as it isn't too much wind, I would guess.
Great capture.

Looks exciting, but I'm happier solidly on the ground. You succeeded in obtaining a great photo as I'm sure he wasn't stationary even for a second!

Always wanted to try this, but alas I am too chicken.

I don't see so many of these in the midwest, saw plenty in NM. Nice to have the opportunity for photos.

That is not something I could do!

What an unexpected surprise for you! Definitely not an activity I am brave enough to try.
