in my social history class in college, I learned that tomatoes were unknown in Europe until the Spanish brought them back after the colonization of South America. They were called "Peruvian apples" in Spain and then were called "Spanish apples" elsewhere in Europe.

Sorry, but i grew up with red tomatoes and never having been exposed to green tomatoes. I think that all tomatoes should be red.

I have never tried green tomatoes, but I eat red tomatoes every day. Cool photo.

Even though I'm a Southern girl I still prefer juicy sliced red ones. Found some great 'maters at the farmers market here on Saturday. Very expensive but very good, and all locally grown.

I got so wrapped up in thinking about eating tomatoes I forgot to mention that this is a great photo. It could appear in a food mag!

Love them! That's what's for dinner tonight.

These are the only tomatoes that my plant produced this year. Tried fried green tomatoes once...guess I needed a better recipe!

As I recall, we did try them once a long time ago and it was a less pleasant experience than we had hoped it would be. I also remember a movie named "Fried Green Tomatoes" and we thought that was a bummer (boring) also...

Sorry.

But it's a beautiful photograph!

Yes I have some. I also expect to see this on the cover of Bon Appetit.

I love fried green tomatoes. Someone told me about a green tomato jam that their grandmother used to make.

I haven't tried them Sharon but I'd like to. Do they taste very much different from red tomatoes? Very effective shot btw.

The lighting is great in this shot. Now, lets get some onions and fry these babies up!

Great color in this shot. I have never had a fried one though. I've heard they are yummy.

Not crazy about them but i did like the movie!

Magpie is right: green tomato jam is excellent and does not taste like tomato at all probably because of the added sugar. Never tried to fry them, I will.
