Rapunzel, Rapunzel

This tower located in a newly remodeled movie theatre in Scottsdale, reminded me of the “Rapunzel” fairy tale.  Several local movie theatres have undergone some serious remodeling and now offer adult drinks, hot food delivered to your seat, and party rooms.

Hm that is really weird, I suppose it IS meant to look like Rapunzel. To suggest what fantasy and stories you'll find in the cinema, I suppose ... ? I'd have loved it as a kid.

Wow. We have nothing like this in Brattleboro. In fact, our movie theaters have dwindled to one (from three when we first moved here in 1976) and the one we have is a wonderful art-deco style, a far cry from this. Hot food delivered to your seat, adult drinks, party rooms? Netflix, beware!

I think it's because of Netflix and other cheaper sources of film entertainment that movie theaters are resorting to new draws for customers. If they charge 5 bucks for a Coke, I wonder how much a margarita would set you back!

Really not my kind of place since I prefer the small theatres that feature artsy films. We avoid the mega-theatres as much as possible, altho my DH really likes the graduated seating.

A bit strange but a truly fantastic composition, Sharon. As to movie theatres, well, I prefer the endangered old fashioned ones where the audience is quiet. I simply can't stand the smell of popcorn or hamburger while I'm watching a movie! :-)

I find this as amazing as some of the others. I hope it pays off for the owners. Our theaters seem to have a tough time staying in business...probably too many home theaters these days where the popcorn is cheaper and people are shouting obscenities in your ears! :-)

Really they deliver to your seat?! I bet you have to pay for that service?

Oh my! I have never seen one like this! I guess they have to do something to keep up with netflicks and the like. What a great shot!

If someone has time to go to a movie theater, something I have not done in a decade or so, they have time to eat before the movie starts. Eating during entertainment is for hot dogs and ball games, in my view.

I like it! It's nice to have a bit of fantasy.

Wow, great shot! That's a real combination of the old with the new.

We have those kind of theaters here in KC. I like this tower, can you go inside.

Large structure. Drinking and movies, do they mix?

I don't get the reasoning for putting this in a theater, but I'm not a theater designer or a theater operator. Best way to draw in movie customers? Better movies. Duh.

It must be a noisy theater once the film is playing...
A really interesting structure!
Of course they have to charge the viewers for the cost of it sooner or later...

Party rooms...that sounds interesting. Going to the movies has become such an expensive venture.
