Desert Tower…..in a gallery:

I spent the last three days in Las Vegas to attend a conference.  On Friday morning I had some time to explore and I found a gallery devoted to the artistry of Dale Chihuly.  Once inside I saw this gorgeous version of the Desert Wildflower Towers that we have at the Desert Botanical Gardens.  There were more amazing pieces in the gallery and since they encouraged photography, I’ll show you a few more over the next few days.

My guess is that this Chihuly Gallery is part of the new City Center project in Vegas, where the Cosmopolitan and Aria casino/hotels are located.

There is also a shopping center there with outrageous high end shops. I had to speak at a conference there a few months ago and, walking through, saw a Tag Heuer store, so I walked in to check it out. They sold cell phones, not just watches. I asked about the price. They ranged from $7,000 - $10,000. I did not ask what features they had, but at that price they should go fetch the person you are calling.

Sounds like you had a good trip. Julie and I look forward to hearing about it.

That is amazing Sharon, is it made out of glass?

Oh, Goody! Since I am one of the millions of Chihuly fans, I cannot wait to see all your photos. This beautiful piece is one I would like to see...probably one of my favorites. You photographed it beautifully!

I agree, you captured this quite well. I am also curious what the medium used for it's creation.

I wonder how much time was invested in this piece. His work is just so amazing.

For those of you who are new to Chihuly's work, this is all glass. His glass works have been shown all over the world.

Leave it to you to be able to find Chihuly in a strange city. I like the way they lit this one.
(I didn't mean that Vegas is a strange city, just not where you live. But then, on second thought......)

The lighting is fabulous on this piece - such a wonderful colour he has used for this glass. Looking forward to the rest of the pics.

Wonderful, Sharon. I am a Chihuly nut, too. One of these days I am going to count how many different cities I have searched out Chihuly exhibitions in. I look forward to your other photos.

I remember the similar pieces at 'your' Botanical Garden. Love the dark background here.
