Arts & Flowers 2011

It’s time for the annual Arts & Flowers show at the Phoenix Art Museum and it will be up through the weekend so if you are in town, check it out. This is the show where floral design artists choose a work of art in the museum and create a floral arrangement to compliment it.

The one I have pictured was my favorite but, it wasn’t an easy choice. There were many clever designs. The artwork is called “White Buffalo Ceremony” by artist Fritz Scholder.

The floral arrangement is by Anna Starkey of Mayesh Wholesale Florist.

I'll show you a few more every now and then.

I am on a business trip to Vegas and walkign around the strip last night I checked out the Conservatory at the Bellagio. They had a large framed piece of art made up of plants and flowers. Who knew I could see such things without leaving Phoenix?

That was a difficult piece to "mimic". She did a nice job. Very interesting...you see such cool stuff.

This is so beautiful! I love this show, even though I have only seen it through your lens. Can't wait to see more of this years artwork.

Gorgeous, Sharon. I have seen similar Art-and-Flowers exhibitions in both Columbus and Hartford, but in those places the florists are more expressive in reflecting the feel of the work, instead of seeking to duplicate it like this florist did. Nice.
