Indian Fair & Market

Yesterday and today is the 53rd annual Indian Fair & Market at the Heard Museum. I try to make it to this event every year because the art work is simply fabulous. I happened to be there in time to see a performance by this group, Xavier Quijas Yxayotl and The Aztec Dance Group. Their costumes were simply brilliant as you can see from this photo.

March is one of the busiest months in the Phoenix area with all kinds of cultural events. Sometimes it’s hard to squeeze it all in.

Yes, Aztec outfits are amazing! Several groups perform every day at the Zócalo, one of the world's largest squares, in Mexico City.

I'd love to know how they transport those amazing headpieces from one venue to another. Looks like the event was a lot of fun.

It's good to know that there are so many cultural activities in March in your fair city; I must keep that in mind for the future. There costumes are amazingly colourful. Interesting history about the Aztec use of bird feathers, if I have been correctly informed, that is.

This must be a bright and colorful event with all the sights and sounds to enjoy. I wonder how heavy those headdresses are. I'm glad that you go and share with all of us.

Now I want you to repeat the name "Xavier Quijas Yxayotl" out loud three times very fast! :-)

Indian markets are fun. My wife, daughter and sister are always mesmerized by the silver and turquoise jewelry. A lot of it finds its way onto my credit card statement.
