Illusion

When I was at the Phoenix Art Museum over the holidays, I noticed they were working on one of the changing exhibit rooms.  While I was looking at the construction I notice an unusual shadow on the wall.  I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from so I went to the doorway near the shadow and looked around the corner to discover that it is an art installation.  I couldn’t get in the room to find out more about the piece so I can’t tell you the artist.
I’ve decided I like the piece simply because it got me thinking and made me do some investigating.

I am impressed about your photos with light and shadow!:)

Looks like a crack in the plaster. I guess he or she calls themselves a "realistic" painter. If it was a modernist the crack would be multicolored and consist mainly of dots and dashes. LOL

The artistry of your photo may surpass the artistry of the completed installation. The museum should display your photo as part of the completed installation.

I like the play of light and shadow in this shot too. You'll have to go back and get a shot of the art that created the shadow.

That is so cool. I thought it was a piece of lint on the spot light creating the illusion of a crack on the wall. Nice shot.

At first I thought it was a painted crack on the wall but then, looking closer at the base it shows it's a shadow! Very interesting

Was it a shadow or painted on the wall? I'm with Dave on this. You will have to go back and get a shot of the completed work for us.

It will be fun to see what this becomes after we have seen the preparation in your photo.

This shot is incredibly well done. I don't claim to know much about art at all, but I agree that if it gets me thinking, I like it. This photo had me thinking. Nice work.

The art is all about thinking and investigating. Modern art. Now I zoom and will investigate too)))

That is a really good one, Sharon. We always focus on the finished installation and don't think about the installation process. I like it.

I think your photo created it's own art exhibit :)

And that is the beauty of art, to get us thinking.

I think we need more info...'cause it sure looks like the wall is cracking or some black ink ran down the side of it! :-)
