I'm glad that I maxed the photo to get a better view of the flowers. Such beauty in what looks to be an inhospitable place!

Hi Sharon,
I got to chaperone the 2nd grade field trip this year to the Desert Outdoor Center. We learned the Saguaro Cactus only blooms during the month of May. The flowers are food for doves and bats. The Squaro Blossom is also the State Wildflower of Arizona. Can't wait to see what I learn in 3rd grade :) Have a good weekend.

yes, it is that time of the year. now we need to get out there at night and film a bat drinking the nectar of these flowers

I have so enjoyed the saguaros this year. I wonder if I just never paid attention before?
