Lawnmower

I spotted this tortoise through a fence in someone's backyard. I decided to get closer to take a photo and as I snapped a shot, four dogs came bounding toward the fence loudly announcing my position and warning me to stay back. The tortoise and the dogs appeared to be fast friends.

The Tortoise and the Hound...where have I heard that before? Kind of sounds like an English pub. I like your title for this post.

I used to have a desert tortoise and and yellow labrador and they shared the back yard quite compatibly. The dog would even lie down next to the tortoise, lay his paw on the tortoise's shell and take a nap.

Because of the tortoise's manner of eating the grass, the boys named him "Crunch."

Wow, he is a large one! I would imagine he could eat quite a lot of grass.

OMG! That is a big tortoise. How fun to find that in someones yard. I thought at first that you had been to the zoo.

Great shot and a good eye to spot it. We used to have one years ago when we were kids. If I layed out in the yard to get some sun, he used to crawl over my legs sometimes. It would always scare me that he might bite me. :)

Oh, my, that is a big tortoise. I wonder how long it takes for it to mow the yard?

That's funny...a tortoise being protected by doggy friends. It looks like you captured his south end heading north! ;-)

I had a big african tortoise at my parents yard and it was my favourite pet for years until it simply vanished...!

It is so big. Smaller version is the ideal type of a pet for the city-apartment-living people. Eye of the photographer=eye of the falcon!
