Rat-a-tat-tat

Walking along a path at Encanto Park, I kept hearing an odd rapid rat-a-tat-tat noise. I looked up and saw this woodpecker tapping away on this lamp post.

When I got a little too close, he flew off to try his beak on the next street light.

When I visit my brother in Tucson, I am awakened each morning to the woodpecker rat-a-tat-tatting on the chimney pipe. What are they thinking?

funny. you would think he could tell the difference between wood and glass or metal

Maybe he's hoping to evolve from woodpecker to metal drill.

This made me laugh! Poor little guy is a bit confused. Fun find and great shot! These little guys are hard to capture.

How odd. I wonder if there are bugs that were attracted by the light left behind on the glass.
