Cerrillos

This sculpture is firmly implanted in the abstract phase of Allan Houser's career as a sculptor. The piece is called Cerrillos. I'm not always a fan of abstract, but I do like this one.
When I was at the garden last Friday night for the luminarias event, I photographed this sculpture using the floodlights on the piece and my flash.

Now I have to do some research on Hauser since I have not been aware of this phase of his art.

Sharon, You've educated me! I just found many beautiful Hauser sculptures on artnet; now I'll have to go back and study them at my leisure. Many thanks for this beautiful photograph today that has opened my eyes! What a terrific artist!! PS. A friend used to go to his studio when he held his annual open house for the public; alas, I was never there for the event.

These are beautifully photographed, particularly that second shot.

The night time shot makes it look like it has grown from the rock.

The overall shape reminds «Louis» of the Sydney, Australia opera house.

Nicely captured!
