Out of Place

This little cottage-like home seems completely out of place in the neighborhood where it sits. I can’t tell if someone lives here or if it just sits empty. That piece of wood in the front window has me puzzled. What I do know is that this is not a style of architecture that one normally sees in American Southwest.

Looks like it could have been from 'Hansel & Gretel'. Which neighborhood is it in?

Someone must have moved to Arizona and been homesick for wherever they came from and built a house to remind them of their home town.

I also think that practice of building these type of cottages rather than houses with southwestern architecture was used in Arizona from the 1920's - 1940's, giving way to suburban ranch style homes in the 1950's - 70's, followed by more southwestern architecture thereafter.

This is just my own casual observation based on seeing the age of homes on Phoenix.

It's hard to tell if someone lives there, the lawn is mowed though. I would think all the rock and brick in the house would be good for keeping it cooler in the summer. It's such a pretty house, Thanks for showing it.
