Phoenix Daily Photo is One Year Old Today

A year ago today I started the Phoenix Daily Photo blog and here I am 365 photos later still going strong. It has been quite an adventure and I’ve enjoyed all of it. I’ve learned so much about my city and I see my surroundings in a whole new light. Since I started, I’ve upgraded my camera equipment and attended many public events that I’ve always wanted to attend, but never found the time. Today I’ve posted another glass work from the Chihuly: The Nature of Glass exhibit that ran from November through May at the Desert Botanical Gardens. I think of all the events I’ve attended, this one tops the list. I just checked, I visited the gardens 9 times during its 7 month run. What makes this event very special to me is that it taught me that visiting the gardens is not a once a year activity, but something I need to do on a regular basis. The beauty of the desert plant life is to be savored all year long. The Chihuly show was spectacular, but the wildflowers, butterflies, and cactus work their own spectacular magic the year round.

Happy blog birthday, Sharon! Of all the photos you could have chosen to celebrate this day with, I'm glad you chose a Chihuly too. You were the one who introduced me to his work and I'm so thankful for that. Thank you too for sharing Phoenix with us through your wonderful photos, and I am looking forward to many more years of your blog! Congratulations!

Happy birthday to you and your lovely blog, Sharon and what a beautiful choice of photo for today. Your blog is always so full of colour and how could a photo have more than Chihuly glass. I'm a big fan of his as you know.

You are so right about gardens. We have several famous gardens in Menton - yes I know, I've not even started photographing them yet but one has a brochure telling you what you'll find there each month of the year.

Again congrats on your birthday. Open the champers!

What a wonderful post to celebrate your one year anniversary. Blogging allows us to notice what we normally take for granted, and your visits to the Botanical Gardens are testimony to this fact. Hasn't it been fun?!

Congratulations. I remember coming to your house with my "techie" son to when you were first setting up your blog. Your photos are part of my morning every day. You have introduced me to information about Phoenix that I did not know even after living in the area for more than a quarter century. I look forward to your future Daily Photo blog anniversaries.

Congratulations on your first year. Just love this image. I have only been introduced to this glass through blogging. Beautiful stuff. I agree you really do see the place you live in a different light and often notice things no one else does. Here's to the next year.
