Prickly Beauty

I’m not an expert on cacti so, when I saw this one recently I had to do some research. The white part is called "euphorbia lacteal christata rubra". How is that for a serious name? It has been grafted on to another cactus to form this exquisite combination.

How extraordinary. I used not to care for cacti and succulents until I lived in Queensland and then I got to love the succulents in particular. this is a strange combination - never knew you could graft one to another. As you rightly say, don't we learn a lot by blogging - our own and others.

Aren't the grafted ones fantastic? I have two of these, you can see them on my 'piece of nature...' blog. Be very careful when watering and avoid direct sun as they are hypersensitive.

I've seen a few of these and I think they are just beautiful. I wonder how large they get when grafted like this.
